Living Pittsburgh’s Mission
LivingPittsburgh.com was created to help our city’s residents enjoy more of what Pittsburgh has to offer, regardless of their income. Our goal is to offer a one-stop source for all things free and affordable in our city.
By providing the community with easy access to a multitude of free events, affordable activities, sales, discounts, coupons, BOGO’s, food & drink specials and other great local deals in almost any neighborhood, we also hope to directly impact the local economy with positive growth. By bringing to light the great deals and amenities our city and its businesses have to offer, we believe Pittsburgh residents will begin to see they can afford more than they previously thought.
Creating awareness is our mission. All you need to do is embrace the resource we’re offering, and begin Living Pittsburgh!
How Living Pittsburgh Began
Heather Walsh, our founding partner, made the decision to quit her successful sales career to stay home with her kids after her first child was born. She was on a constant mission to make one income work, without needing to drastically alter her family’s lifestyle. She found great deals all over the city, but had to spend an enormous amount of time looking for them and keeping up with the growing list of websites and resources that she accessed on a regular basis. She eventually came up with the idea to provide a service to the community by putting everything together into one easily accessible database, and Living Pittsburgh began it’s evolution. The best of Pittsburgh, on any budget!
In May of 2009, she showed a business proposal to her friend, Rachel Booth. A fellow stay-at-home-mom, Rachel and her family moved to downtown Pittsburgh in 2008, and completly fell in love with the city. In addition to freelance writing and her new company Urban Baby Tours, she became very involved with community activities and promoting the city at every available opportunity. Rachel loved the concept and goal behind Living Pittsburgh and saw it as a great opportunity to help the city and her family as well. She decided to partner with Heather to help make this wonderful concept a reality.
Living Pittsburgh is now alive and kicking!
